Ab Challenge 2012
Update 13 Feb:Winners for Ab Challenge January 2012 announced (view the before & after pictures)
How it works
Ab Challenge is pretty simple: submit your ‘before’ picture, then in 30 days time submit your ‘after’ picture for voting. What you do in-between that period is entirely up to you.
There are no diets or workout plans to follow. You decide how best to sculpt your body. Anyone can get abs. You’ve just got to work at it and work very hard – discipline yourself and have the desire not to give up.
Achieving a 6 pack abs isn’t easy. Boy, if it was, everyone would be walking round ripped to sh*t!
It doesn’t matter what stage you’re at with your fitness or what body composition you have – all that matters is you’re on the right road and heading in the right direction.
When it comes to voting; Ab Challenge isn’t about ‘who’s got the best 6 pack’, Ab Challenge is about the transformation.
Ab Challenge January 2012
We’re currently running the second Ab Challenge now, ending 29 January. Unfortunately if you’re reading this for the first time, entries are no longer being accepted. More Ab Challenge’s will be announced later this year.
Ab Challenge September 2011
Take a look at what was achieved back in September’s Ab Challenge. Pretty awesome stuff.

Unfortunately I was unable to train after starting the challenge therefore diet was key to continue. Regular update by abchallenge on diet, eating habits and food knowledge helped me develop my understanding and present an after pic I was happy with

I found the diet advice invaluable! I managed to loose 3″ from my waste and the support I got was brilliant throughout!

Loved the abchallenge again, it’s a great chance to test what you can achieve in a month as well as connecting with other people with the same goal. Chris & Dan are great motivators & the professional PT advice is outstanding. Looking forward to next time already!

Ab Challenge was definitely worth it, it’s got me eating well, I’m back in the gym and I’ve stopped smoking. Didn’t realise what I’d achieved in just a few weeks, thank you! I’m keeping this going.

The ab challenge was an excellent idea and helped project a positive vibe into January. The idea really shows how useful social media can be. Awesome. @somethinkblue

This experience has been awesome—I have learned that results don’t show up immediately, but with perseverence, it pays off. Having the support and advice from all involved was a huge motivating factor as well. This is just the beginning for me:)

Thank you all for your comments.
You’ve all worked extremely hard. Change comes to those who put the work in and are consistent with it.

Just done my first ab Challenge, and I’ve learnt a lot about myself and my body.
Must say I’ve lost more on the arms and chest than I have on the waist, but it has shrunk a little, came off the wagon so to speak at the end of the 3rd week but kept on plugging away on the 4th, not a bad after picture here’s to the next one

Quick few words on the ab challenge, for me personally it was about life outside the gym. 28 days with No drink, Greggs, fast food or takeaways. I ate ‘quite’ well, and trained in my normal way – I didnt do any ab specific workouts throughout.
Wasnt expecting a huge change but was canny surprised in the difference from before & after pictures.
I’d like to thank the 2 lads behind the idea. Inspiring stuff. Cheers lads.

After loosing quite a bit of weight prior to the abchallenge I wasn’t really expecting that much but i’m pleased with the results and am continuing on this for the forseable future (certainly until summer) and then the play is to lean bulk. I stuck to it about 95% of the time for me which was an achievement in itself, yes

I had chocolate and snacked a bit but to stick to my daily macros consistantly was my goal and i’m so happy I took part in this. Thank you to you all for running this and to those who have encouraged and provided support during the month.

Just what I needed – a big kick up the backside after the Christmas chocolate woes. Ab challenge got me in the gym, eating healthily and set me a nice routine which I am so used to, it doesn’t feel like work to carry on another few months! Only problem is I need to buy a smaller belt to hold up my trousers!!

Ab Challenge has been a great experience and as many others have said, it’s mostly about your nutrition rather than training. It wasn’t at all torturous to get through it and knowing that you have a lot of other people going through it at the same time certainly helps and encourages you past those tougher moments of choice.
I saw the most change in the first 2 to 3 weeks but more than anything, have just felt comfortable for the last month. I lost 1″ off my waist and three quarters of a stone so I’m pretty happy with that.
A great idea presented really well. Will definitely get involved again.

With the ab challenge, you have a goal, something to focus on. I had the best fitness start to a year for a long time and a lot was down to having the ab challenge to work for.The thought of putting up some decent photos is a motivation.
I lost 7lb in weight during the challenge which was pleasing.
Thanks for organising it.

The abchallenge has been brilliant for me! Great advice and tips and always there to help if I had any queries! Proved to me that I can achieve anything I want now, and having a goal to produce an after pic was monumental in making me want to continue this! Put me in great shape for the future now! Thanks guys!

I love taking part in these ab challenges – they’re a great focus, and everyone always supports each other on Twitter even though we’re competing!

I used ab challenge to get rid of the Christmas holiday weight, It gave me focus and drive as well as keeping me on track with what proved to be a difficult month. I lost 2″ around my waist and I generally feel better about about myself. I will continue to diet and watch what I eat. I hope @abchallenge keep the motivational tweets flowing. Thanks guys

I popped my ab challenge cherry and I loved it! I was doing well until I got struck down with a sick bug in week 3 which has left me with some tum issues/swelling! Luckily, despite the swelling when I flexed my new found abs for a picture and you could still a difference (just) so I submitted my pic anyway! I’ve also met lots of new tweeps who are fab and we all motivate each other and talk gym, food, make up, pants
Can’t wait for the next ab challenge!

My First venture into online fitness challenges and I have learned more about nutrition, training and supplementation than anywhere else.
Great twitter community, friendly banter and motivation for one another. Everyone is willing to share and help each other along.
It’s not just a challenge – it’s a new approach and lifestyle for me now.
No abs this time round so I will definitely be doing the next challenge….whenever that may be!
Thanks AbChallenge team – Chris and Dan!
Thanks Abchallenge twitfam!

For me, the idea of the online fitness challenge was something that was very interesting to me. No silly join up fee, just send a pic and interact with others via twitter.
The best thing about this challenge, was the opportunity to interact with like minded people in a quick an easy fashion, this enabled me to learn a lot of fitness and nutrition information and use this to compete with others
All in all, a very good experience
Thanks
